As a former Morgan Stanley employee, he already had the smallest and slightest background when it came to the experience and overview of the IT industry. Thus, when he came in to the industry as VP for Marketing, he was already a strong player that will make this big difference in the company. Typically, it was no surprise that in just two weeks into his entry to the company, he was already making waves in the headlines because of his proposal of a takeover bid into one of the largest companies in the IT industry, PeopleSoft.
When it came to success, Charles Phillips Oracle and Infor will always be interrelated to each other. This may look to be quite a huge surprise but the fact is that if it was not for Phillips, then Oracle would still be a large company, but it will not have had made headlines. This means that when Phillips left Oracle, and joined Infor, the same level of success is expected of him when it comes to performance. Typically, the idea that most have with the ERP solutions is placed forward in Infor because of the company’s target markets.
One of the foremost products that Infor is competing with Oracle with is the CRM or the Customer Management. For Charles Phillips, Oracle already has its name etched on the minds of plenty of bigger companies. The major issue that must be faced, however, is whether they are also fit for the smaller and middle-sized companies and markets out there. Typically, Infor works best with the smaller paced companies, which means they have a better exposure to CRM solutions. For this reason, Phillips explains that the edge they have over Oracle is they are working to combine different features that will ensure only one program will be used for the CRM.
For Charles Phillips, Oracle is more focused on the solutions that are higher in technology. However, for Infor, they will have programs that will ensure this steady flow marketing and sales together with operational functions. For example, marketing will give rise to the identification and delivery of high impact leads during the customer interaction, and it will increase and help the sales force by giving them the right tools to make the deal worth it. Thus, the difference between Infor and Oracle, for Phillips, is the way the companies use their technologies to help out their clients.
