This Stipendium is aimed to enhance the knowledge of members of the Royal Botanical
Society concerning all fields of botany. Both research projects, educational
targets or publishing activities might be supported.
Preference is given to those activities which are not easily (or not at all)
subsidized by other sources, like e.g. ALW travel grants.
Project proposals can be sent in all around the year to the first
secretary of the KNBV. A short description of the project and an estimation
of the costs have to be added.
Each year, after Februari 1, the list of proposals is evaluated by the Board
of the Society and a selection is made for granting, depending on the amount
of money available. The selected stipendia will be announced at the annual meeting
of the Society in May. Further information can be obtained from the first
secretary of the Society.
The Hugo de Vries Award is a yearly price of e 5000,= for the best botany related
Ph.D. thesis defended in that year at a Dutch university.
The award is a shared initiative of both the Royal Botanical Society and the
Hugo de Vries Foundation.Besides the amount of money, the price winner also
receives a charter.
Candidates have to be proposed by their promotor or co-promotor. Further information
about the procedure can be obtained from the Netherlands
Institute of Biology (NIBI) which organizes the selection procedure and
the handing over of the price. Details are also available at NIBI.
